Read MoreWhat's Been on My Mind: Magical Thinking in Weight Loss, Exercise, & Diets
When I think of Magical Thinking in the context of weight loss, exercise, and diets, I'm referring to...
the belief that specific and drastic actions will yield immediate and out-of-this-world results without considering the realistic efforts, time, and consistency required.
In my personal and professional experience, this kind of thinking can lead to disappointment, frustration, and even unhealthy behaviours.
Today, I want to share some travel hacks and tips to help you keep your health and wellness in check during your summer travels. You don't have to sacrifice your well-being just because you're on the go...but you also don't need to be obsessive about your health either.
My Healthy-ish Travel Tips for Your 2024 Summer:
(plus, a bodyweight workout you can do anywhere while you're away!)
Today, I want to share a list of things I currently do (I say "currently" because these could change!) that 'technically' go against the Health and Fitness 'rules' you see online, whether it's on Instagram, TikTok, blogs, YouTube, or maybe you're old school and still read articles from online magazines 😉.
I want to share these things for a few reasons…
Read MoreWe're half way through April and the weather is looking like spring, finally! I hope you all are enjoying the warmer weather, longer days, cherry blossoms, and the thicccc layer of pollen that's settled on just about everything.
I thought I would keep things light and breezy this week with a list of my current favourites and things I'm loving. Let's get into it!
Practical vs. Optimal
When I think of practical healthy habits, I think of things that are realistic and actually move the needle.
These habits are usually less flashy than a 20-step morning routine involving a ring light, homemade almond milk, organic matcha, juicing 20lbs of celery, and so on.
Don't get me wrong, if I didn't have 2 jobs and a life to show up for, I'd love to do a 20-step morning routine.
But, I live in the real world.
As I'm sure you do too;)
The Bathroom Stall Wisdom: Detox Dilemma
While we were at The Sphere (seriously, so cool!), I went to bathroom before the show/experience started.
The woman in the stall next to me was telling her friend that she was planning to do a detox post-trip, and her friend agreed, I believe her exact reply was, "OMG, ME TOO!"
Now, I couldn't resist the temptation to eavesdrop (I mean, we're practically stallmates, right?), and I couldn't help but think about how many people are going to attempt a post-Vegas detox starting today...at least a few hundred, right???
Tired of feeling like a failure because you can't stick to some insane diet that swears it's the only path to wellness? I hear you. The health and wellness industry can be relentless, pushing this idea that it's all or nothing, and if you can't commit 100%, you're doomed.
